LONGVIEW DEFEATED BY MARSHALL SQUAD
MARSHALL - In a game feature day much squabbling over decisions and wrangling by both teams, Marshall high school defeated the Longview high football squad Friday afternoon in the neighboring city by a 13 to 12 score.

Marshall's weakness on defensive work, especially in the open game, allowed Longview both of her touchdowns. The black and golden eleven tried 15 passes, ten of which were successful. Moore at quarterback; Smith, halfback and Henderson and Howard, ends, starred for Longview.

For the local eleven Driskell at left end played his usual stellar game, showing up well especially on the defensive. The Marshall tackles, Monigold and Brown, Burford at center and Taylor, fullback, while not creating a sensation, played a steady game throughout.

Taylor showed improved form on his kicking, his punts were all of the long looping variety and the Marshall ends always had their man covered before he received the ball.

Most the scoring was done in the first half. Marshall received the Longview kickoff and carried it back to the middle of the field where they lost it on a fumbled punt.

Longview started a steady march down the field using a combination of straight and open football and Howard carried a pass for the touchdown.

Marshall did all of her scoring in this half.

After the locals had forced the Longview eleven into the shadow of their own goal, Driskell recovered a fumble and crossed the line for the first Marshall mark. Burford failed to kick goal.

Marshall scored again in this half when Taylor went through the line for another touchdown. Burford kicked goal. Marshall 13, Longview 6.

Longview added another six points in the third quarter. By a series of successful passes, on the last of which Smith gained 15 yards, she carried the ball to Marshall's 2-yard line and Moore went over the next play.

Smith failed to kick goal.
